Lon founded Ampelis on his philosophy that moral purpose and meaning are at the heart of happiness. He believes that there is a vital relationship between character strengths and virtues that lead to the “good life.” As an advocate of positive psychology and a believer in experiential learning, his vision is to help create a world where every individual and family has meaning in their lives. His goal at Ampelis is to help navigate individuals, families, and organizations in identifying, pursuing, and reinforcing that which provides meaning. Lon’s pursuit of meaning found in his marriage, family, and among the many friends that share this life, is what keeps Lon enthusiastically engaged every day!
Lon earned his bachelor’s degree in family finance and estate planning from BYU and his MBA from the BYU Marriott School of Management. He is also the Founder and past CEO of Soltis Investment Advisors, a nationally registered investment advisory firm, and is presently serving as Chairman of the Board. His background in entrepreneurship, portfolio asset management, and private equity has been focused on creating, building, and managing wealth so his partners, employees, and clients may pursue life’s most meaningful endeavors.
Lon and his wife, Carrie, have six children and twenty grandchildren. He enjoys adventures like flying, road and mountain biking, water and snow skiing, horseback riding, hiking, scuba diving, and traveling.
Robbie Harmon – Partner, President
With a professional objective “to make significant contributions in the care of others”, Robbie has used his background in accounting, operations, strategy and business development to build healthcare businesses that disrupt and offer greater value to markets. Robbie brings knowledge and passion to the Ampelis team. He finds fulfillment using his expertise to create better ways for people to cultivate meaning in their lives and businesses. He is deeply invested in the Ampelis methodology and uses it daily within his own life to develop self, nurture relationships with others, and connect with the divine. As the President of Ampelis and Ampelis Recovery, Robbie spends his days serving clients and working with the team to design and implement Ampelis services.
Robbie graduated with his degree in accounting from Brigham Young University and later completed both a Master of Healthcare Administration and Master of Business Administration at the University of North Carolina. Before coming to Ampelis, Robbie served as a Regional Vice President at Surgical Care Affiliates (an Optum Company) responsible for strategy, operations and development in multiple markets across the United States.
As someone who loves to spend time outdoors – mountain biking, camping, skiing, horseback riding, and hiking – Robbie is heavily involved in the experiential learning side of Ampelis. He can personally attest to the numerous benefits of being active in nature. When he isn’t working, Robbie and his wife, Jesika, spend time chasing their vision for life (and their five children) in and around their Utah home.
Reed Davis – Partner, Strategy/Finance
Reed wears many hats on the Ampelis team—he is the jack of all trades at the center of the organization. He oversees strategy, finance, accounting, legal, human resources, the alumni program, and works with the team developing experiential aspects of the program.
Before joining Ampelis Recovery, Reed taught and led strategy projects at Harvard Business School with world renown innovator and professor, Clayton Christensen. Reed earned undergraduate degrees in Corporate Finance and International Business from Brigham Young University and later completed a Master of Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame.
When Reed isn’t working, he enjoys traveling, good food, sports, and the arts. He lives in Utah with his wife and their three children.
Justin Weeks – Partner, Business Development
Justin is the definition of a people person, who uses this skill set to lead the client relations and marketing efforts for the Ampelis team. Justin has a bachelor’s degree in Technical Sales from Weber State University and has spent his career in business development. He embraces and thoroughly enjoys the challenge of taking a new product or service to market. In addition to leading our marketing and client relations efforts, Justin lends his hand to program development to ensure every aspect of Ampelis is of the highest quality.
Justin has a reputation for doing things right and over the top, and this applies to both his professional and personal life. When not working, Justin enjoys mountain biking, water and snow skiing, and being with his family. Every week that includes at least one bike ride and one boat ride with his loved ones is a successful one in Justin’s book.
Andrew Petersen, DO – Partner, Medical Director
Dr. Petersen is driven by the belief that conventional approaches to debilitating diseases that plague modern-day society fall short. He brings this unique perspective to Ampelis in the form of cutting-edge medical approaches to treating and healing addiction. In his own words, addiction is not a moral failing. Rather it is a disease that needs to be treated from all angles: biological, mental, physical, and spiritual.
Dr. Petersen oversees the biological side of healing at Ampelis, administering amino acids and ketamine for psychotherapy, and working with clients to fully evaluate and address underlying biological issues that may contribute to their addiction. He also is responsible for the ongoing monitoring of each client’s health.
Dr. Petersen graduated from the University of North Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001. Before joining Forum Health, Dr. Petersen shaped his treatment philosophy as the chief of staff at a hospital in rural Texas. As a fellow of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, Dr. Petersen brings more than 15 years of physician experience to the Ampelis team. He completed the organization’s fellowship in stem cell therapy and also serves on the board of the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society. In addition to treating substance abuse, Dr. Petersen specializes in treating hormonal imbalances, hypothyroidism, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes, fibromyalgia, metabolic disorders, Lyme disease, and neurodegenerative conditions.
Trish Henrie-Barrus PH.D. – Partner, Clinical Director
As the clinical director at Ampelis, Dr. Barrus plays an integral role in ensuring our clients receive exceptional care. She spends her time directing and managing the clinical treatment and therapy experiences for each client. These therapeutic experiences, coupled with Ampelis’ unique approach to addiction recovery through biological-focused medical treatment and experiential learning, give clients an incredible opportunity to thoroughly and permanently heal.
Dr. Barrus has extensive experience in assessment administration and development—especially in opioid and chemical addiction, pain management, depression, anxiety, and wellness. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Utah and is a practicing clinician and owner of Riverwoods Behavioral Health. Dr. Barrus is also an Assistant Professor at the University of Utah, where she helped create the nationally recognized Positive Psychology Certificate Program.
When not working, Dr. Barrus enjoys spending time with her husband, Lee Barrus, and their ten children and 25 grandchildren. She loves traveling, mountain biking, skiing, and just about any activity with her family.
Nicole Zeiner, CNRC – Nutrition Specialist
As a Certified Nutritional Recovery Coach, biochemist, and chef, Nicole believes vibrant health is possible for everyone and helps to guide patients through their wellness transformations. Nicole oversees the design, development, and execution of Forum Health patient education and wellness programs. She also holds one-on-one consultations — both remotely and at Forum Health offices.
With a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and nutrition from the University of Utah, Nicole is passionate about health. Before joining our team, Nicole operated a Chicago-based functional medicine clinic. At this clinic, she helped develop a nutraceutical line and assisted in the design of integrative addiction recovery treatments.
Carolee Sanders, Program Director
From the moment she set foot on Ameplis’s property, Carolee knew she found someplace special to use her talents. Carolee keeps Ampelis running smoothly by managing, assisting, and supervising the day to day program needs and logistics of the recovery center. She is inspired every day by the passion and vision of the Ampelis team, who have the dedication and commitment to make a difference in the lives of others. Her hope for clients who come through the doors of Ampelis Recovery is to find strength, courage, and a yearning to discover new ways to have a more meaningful life.
Carolee graduated from Brigham Young University in 1983 and since then has fulfilled many different roles, including real estate agent, personal assistant, office manager, and department administrator. Carolee is a proud mother to 3 amazing children and seven beautiful grandchildren. She loves spending time with her family, taking long walks with friends, playing the piano, attending plays, watching sunsets on the beach, baking, and loves all things chocolate!
Kyle Loveridge, Associate Program Director
The Ampelis Recovery property plays a crucial role in our client’s experience and journey to recovery. Kyle works tirelessly to ensure that all facilities are up and running and kept in top condition. If something needs to be improved or anything needs fixing, Kyle is our guy! He especially enjoys working alongside our clients and loves to see them take ownership of certain aspects of the property during their time in residential treatment.
Kyle studied therapeutic recreation at Brigham Young University before joining the Ampelis Recovery team and has spent his career helping people remove barriers to meaning and build a life they are proud of.
Sarah Brown, Case Manager & Experience Design Lead
Sarah leads the experience design team, is a part of the family culture team, and has worked on the development of the after-care program. She is also the case manager for clients as they transition to the after-care program. Sarah graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and an emphasis in life science. She loves soccer and still dreams of playing on the soccer pitch. She loves to run, lift, and hike with her two darling little boys. She also loves people and spending time with those that love to talk and laugh.
Working at Ampelis and helping others heal from addiction is a fulfillment of dreams for Sarah. Sarah is supported by her incredible husband and two sons. Her family and faith are her top priorities in life.
Carry Ady, Greenhouse Specialist
“Into the garden I go… to lose my mind and find my soul” This phrase perfectly describes how Carry feels about digging her hands into the dirt and maintaining the beautiful aesthetic of nature at Ampelis Recovery. From a young age, Carry’s fondest memories were of being in the garden with her family. She—like the rest of the Ampelis team—believes nature can be a place of connection, meditation, learning, and awareness. She has committed years of learning to understand the science behind being in nature and what it does for the mind. As a self-taught gardener, who learned through trial and error, Carry loves sharing her knowledge of the natural world with others to assist them in living their best lives possible.
Before joining the Ampelis team, Carry—and her jolly Canadian husband, Canuck—raised three children in Seattle and Chattanooga, Tennessee, before finding their home in Utah. Outside of the garden, she loves boating, pickleball, slot canyons, traveling, and all things related to food.
Javier Sad, Executive Chef
Javier is a master chef who spends his days healing Ampelis clients through the power of food. As Executive Chef, Javier runs all aspects of the kitchen, including crafting nutritional meals, developing new recipes, planning, and budgeting. All his meals are purposefully created to ensure they fulfill the dietary guidelines provided by the nutritionists and dieticians. His food is delicious and vibrant, as it equips clients with all the nutrients necessary to fight and overcome their addictions. Javier finds deep meaning in his life as he helps people through his work at Ampelis Recovery.
Javier is no stranger to the food and hospitality industry, where he spent over ten years as a cook and discovered his passion for providing delicious meals. He later worked as a sous chef for private organizations.
Javier is married to his high school sweetheart, and they have two children. Living in Utah gives him amazing opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, including fly-fishing, hiking, and off-roading.
Josh Cooke, CMHC – Therapist
As a clinical mental health counselor specializing in co-occurring disorders and addiction, Josh spends his time with our clients providing group education on the 10 Principles of Recovery. Josh also engages with our clients in one on one and family therapy. He is passionate about treatment and recognizes that each client has the opportunity for genuine healing and growth.
Josh graduated with a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Southern Oregon University. He is also a graduate of the Positive Psychology Certificate program at the University of Utah. Josh has strong clinical experience in co-occurring mental health and addictions treatment. Before joining our team he developed and implemented a successful co-occurring intensive outpatient treatment program in southern Idaho serving as clinical director. He is currently practicing as a therapist with Riverwoods Behavioral Health.
Josh’s free time is spent with his wife and five daughters. He enjoys writing, reading, cooking, and being in the outdoors with his family.
Mark Basil, Exercise Physiologist
Mark Basil was born in Southern California and grew up with a love of sports, exercise, and fitness. Mark has managed some of the largest health clubs in the country and has worked as a health and fitness consultant for numerous corporations and Fortune 500 companies. He is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, certified in Post Rehabilitation, a Corrective Exercise Specialist, and a Lifestyle Coach. He is also the former Strength and Conditioning Trainer for Brigham Young University.
Ten years of college taught Mark one thing – keep learning. He travels 50 days every year to learn from the best in the world on topics such as health, nutrition, anatomy, and biomechanics. Health and fitness are his passions and he has been featured on radio, TV, and in print sharing his expertise.
Seventeen years ago, Mark founded Optimum Fitness in Alpine, Utah – a lifestyle training studio dedicated to health, wellness, and performance enhancement. He lives in Alpine with his wonderful wife and 4 beautiful children.
Stephanie Bladen RN, BSN – Head Nurse
Stephanie facilitates the amino acid IV drips and ketamine sessions that are such a key part of the Ampelis Recovery program. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Missouri and is a Registered Nurse. Stephanie loves the uplifting atmosphere at Ampelis Recovery and enjoys meeting new clients and watching them change and grow. She is thrilled to be part of such an incredible organization.
In her spare time, Stephanie likes to play tennis, play the piano, travel, read and learn about health and wellness.
Stacy Peterson, RN – Registered Nurse
Stacy is one of the nurses at Ampelis Recovery and loves watching clients become the best version of themselves as they go through the program. Her favorite quote is: “Sometimes I inspire my patients; more often the inspire me.” (Unknown) Stacy graduated with an associate’s degree from Utah Career College and has been a nurse for 13 years. She is certified in wound care, but is passionate about recovery.
Stacy is married with 5 children. Her hobbies include running, hiking, gardening and spending time with her family.
Joseph Moore – Music Experience Design
Maria Von Trapp famously said, “Music acts like a magic key to which the most tightly closed heart opens.” As the Music Experience Designer for Ampelis Recovery, Joseph helps to coordinate weekly musical experiences for our clients. He graduated from Brigham Young University-Hawaii in Vocal Performance and also did some post-grad work at Berklee College of Music in more contemporary styles. In addition to his work at Ampelis, Joseph is an Adjunct Professor of voice at Utah Valley University for commercial voice students & also teaches privately. He performs, is a recording artist & songwriter & does vocal session work for several different projects.
